Jason Houser joined Riverside Health System in 2005 and serves as the Senior Vice President & General Counsel. As the chief legal officer for Riverside, Jason provides and manages legal services and compliance efforts, including compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, assignment and supervision of outside retained counsel, and advising senior management and the board on all legal matters.
Prior to joining Riverside, Jason practiced healthcare law with Venable LLP in Baltimore, Maryland, where he advised hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities, and pharmaceutical companies in such areas as anti-kickback, Stark, Medicare and Medicaid, certificate of need, health occupations discipline, joint venture formation, and asset acquisition transactions. His work ranged from providing HIPAA Privacy Rule educational sessions for physician practice groups to preparing responsive documents to investigations by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Jason is admitted to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law, his Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia Campus, Virginia Commonwealth University, and his Bachelor of Science in Governmental Administration from Christopher Newport University.
